Artist
Profile
Kestrel was born and raised in Shanghai. From an early age, she was obsessed with learning and drawing the history of nature, spooky tales, monsters and spirits. With these passions, she decided to pursue an animation career focusing on horror, fantasy and sci-fi content. Currently, Kestrel studies Animation at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Here she plans to develop the skills necessary to become a show runner, heading her own spooky adventures in animation. The main inspiration for her to become an artist is her love for creativity and the unknown. Through her gifted talent for character designs and unique storytelling, she brings the unknown facts of our very own world and the fantasy of wild imagination in front of the eyes of mortals.
Kestrel has finished her own animated short about a funny dinosaur, “Careful-o-Taurus,” and a collection of character concepts for her science-fiction project “Front of Norlon,” which offered her a great amount of experience in directing, character designs, and writing. She is enthusiastic to create more original projects in the near future.
In her spare time, Kestrel enjoys birdwatching, creature designs, and fossil hunting. She considered herself both a naturalist and an artist.
